How Debt Free Date handles calculator data

Debt Free Date is designed around local deterministic calculations. This policy explains what stays in the browser, the limited information sent only when a user chooses the optional AI explanation, and the technical information that can be processed to serve the site.

Core calculators stay local

Core calculator financial inputs and deterministic results are processed in the browser. Core calculations do not require an account, bank connection, or credit pull.

Debt Free Date does not persist debt values in localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, a database, or public URLs. Your calculator data stays in your browser unless you choose an optional feature that clearly requires limited data transmission.

Optional AI explanation

The optional AI explanation is available only after explicit consent. If you choose Continue, Debt Free Date sends an allowlisted structured plan summary through its application endpoint to OpenRouter, the external AI routing provider used by the current implementation.

The summary can contain the selected strategy, months to payoff, estimated total interest, monthly debt payment, debt count, an optional first-milestone month, and compact scenario comparisons. It is used only to explain deterministic results, not to calculate or change them.

Information excluded from the AI summary

The optional AI summary does not include raw debt names, individual balances, raw APR values, account identifiers, payment schedules, freeform financial notes, institution names, or raw application state.

No AI request occurs on page load, after a calculation, or when consent is declined. The core calculators, Scenario Lab, APR negotiation tool, and Master Plan remain available without an AI request.

Persistence and public indexing

Debt Free Date application code does not intentionally persist AI request payloads or response bodies. Personalized AI explanations remain transient, are not written into public URLs, and do not create publicly indexed pages.

OpenRouter and downstream model providers process the limited request needed to return an explanation under their own policies. Debt Free Date does not make a promise here about third-party retention, deletion, training, residency, certification, or subprocessors.

Technical request information

Operational infrastructure used to serve and protect the site can process standard technical request information, such as an IP address, request time, requested route, and browser user agent. This information is separate from the debt values entered into the calculators.
